Hi all, I'm here ready to ride in Cortland NY. Today seems like the last day to ride these trails before the warmup, so if you're on the fence, get out and ride. I'll report back later on conditions as I head up through the finger lakes from Cortland. So far, groomers have done a great job of packing down previous snowfall, and trails held up. Nicely groomed here in the southern tier.

Hi everyone, I've put on 70 miles so far, and found some pretty amazing trail conditions. I started riding near interstate 81 in Cortland NY. There hasn't been a ton of traffic and groomers have been out, so trails look great considering the weather. Cortland is a little thin, but heading north toward Marcellus, I found much better conditions. if you look at the attached map, I've essentially followed C5 and C5A with some detours on secondary trails to explore. I'm currently in Skaneateles eating lunch and grabbing gas.

If you do this ride today, expect trails conditions to include ice, but also some phenomenal groomed stretches. I've seen only one other rider today.

The Marcellus and Toad Hollow systems have been impeccably taken care of. Definitely hit up these systems. I'll report back as I head south from skaneateles.

I have to give a shout out to Hilltop Restaurant. Wow, by far the best Steak and Eggs I've had in years. If you ride in the area, stop here. The made me a PERFECT medium rare steak.

Just got home after a 130 mile ride. I explored trails west of lake Skaneateles. See the attached screenshot for the region. This stretch of C5A and secondary trails was odd. You were either riding beautifully groomed, flat and fast trail through beautiful scenery, or you're powering through dirt to reach the next nice stretch. I don't regret going back to Cortland this way, but it wasn't easy riding. The western side of this lake has lots of rocks, dirt and icy trails. That said, some stretches are nice.
If you're hitting this system in the morning, stay east of the lake for more consistent conditions.

Great day out, and some beautiful scenery. I've attached some extra pictures.

Don't you worry.  It looks like lots of snow is in the forecast for this weekend and next week.  The southern tier really couldn't take this hit due to lack of base, but tug hill and old forge will be just fine.

Hi all, just a quick update.  These trails are closed starting today.  Please stay off, as warmer weather is depleting existing snow.  There's snow in the forecast this weekend and next week, so look at club facebook pages for re-openings.  Clubs to look out for are Seven Valleys Snow Goers, Marcellus Snow Blasters, Toad  Hollow Trail Riders, Cayuga Snowmobile Club, Tioga Ridge Riders, and Dryden Caroline Drifters.  They're all good about posting openings/closings. I'm sure I missed a few as well.  Lots of clubs in this region.
